		News \| Archive News December-29 2011 Springdale Animal Shelter and FPS Volunteer Highlighted on KNWA Workers and volunteers at the Springdale Animal Shelter say they've seen more adoptions this Christmas season than last and the folks that work with them everyday say it's a top priority to get them into a good home. December-01 2011 FPS at First United Methodist Church Alternative Market When planning your Christmas shopping, come shop from the heart and purchase gifts of service for your family, friends, and even yourself. We have great variety of services represented from feeding the hungry to finding new homes for abandoned animals, and so much more. So, for whatever mission speaks to your heart, you\'ll find a meaningful way to shop and serve at the same time! Here is a list of the agencies coming this year: For Pets Sake, Hills Homeless Center, Arkansas Rice Depot, Victory Walk, Arkansas Crisis Center, American Wheelchair Mission, Christopher\'s House, Delta Transitional Home, Community Block Party. Find us at the First United Methodist Church on December 4th. November-01 2011 Trick or Treat Halloween Costume Contest a Huge Success! FPS was the pet sponsor for the annual Trick or Treat Halloween Costume Contest as part of Trick or Treat on the Square in Fayetteville. We had 15 entries for our Dog Costume Contest with Robin Hood, Rapunzel, and our Cowgirl being the winners! Please join FPS next year for our annual Dog Costume contest at Trick-or-Treat on the Square in Fayetteville. November-01 2011 FPS at Petco November 19th We will be at the Fayetteville, AR Petco with our adoptable pets on Saturday November 19th. Come see us! August-03 2011 FPS at Petco August 20th We will be at the Fayetteville, AR Petco with our adoptable pets on Saturday August 20th. Come see us! June-15 2011 FPS at Petco June 18th We will be at the Fayetteville, AR Petco with our adoptable pets on Saturday June 18th. Come see us! June-15 2011 FPS and Tractor Supply/Petfinder Team Up for Pet Appreciation Week Looking for a new place to show off your adoptable pets? Tractor Supply Company is hosting a Pet Appreciation Week event in ALL Tractor Supply Company stores Saturday, August 6! Petfinder.com has partnered with Tractor Supply Company to help locate adoption groups for each store nationwide. For Pets' Sake will participate and bring all of our adoptable pets. Come see us! April-11 2011 FPS Receives $500 Grant We have received a $500.00 grant from Mental Health America of Northwest Arkansas for the FPS Pets for Vets Program. Thanks to FPS volunteer Catrina Horton for applying for and securing this grant! Veterans contact Catrina and then they find a dog at the shelter that will be a good companion dog for the person. FPS takes care of the fees for spay/neuter and vaccinations and the pet is delivered to the veteran at no cost to them. Just a big "Thank You" for their service. March-05 2011 FPS Schedules Fundraisers We have been busy planning fundraising opportunities and we need your help! Come on out and enjoy the day, volunteer with us, make a donation or adopt a dog! April 16 - Chico's in Rogers where anyone who mentions FPS at checkout will receive 10% off. April 23 - Furry Easter Parade - We are having a "Furry Easter Parade" on Saturday, April 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 at the West pavilion in JB Hunt park in Springdale. We will be raffling away prizes and are taking donations for prizes. There will be games for the children, snow cones, cotton candy, bouncy moon walk jumpers and free food. Vendors are welcome to come set up a tent to sell items with 10% going to FPS. If you know a vendor that caters to animals, please spread the word. Click here for the registration form Sept 19-20 - Far East Restaurant - spread the word that FPS gets a percentage of food sold these two days, come eat! October (date TBD) - Breakfast at Applebee's Other events being planned are: Doggies Incarcerated, Launch a Ball, and American Girl movie and tea. March-05 2011 FPS Receives Donation New adoptive pet owner Janine Fleck send a thank you note to past President Laurie Beckman with a $25 donation to support FPS. The thank you note read: "Laurie, Thank you for helping with my dog search, listening, and helping me to understand how to choose a rescue dog. Most people would not have even bothered to call back. Thanks again. It is obvious you want what is best for everyone. Janine Fleck" Thank you Janine for saving a homeless pet! November-6 2010 Sam's Furniture/FPS Adoption Day a HUGE Success FPS took 17 Springdale Shelter Dogs to an Adoption Day at Sam's Furniture. FPS paid for all spay/neuter fees and Sam's Furniture paid the $40 adoption fee for all shelter dogs that got adopted today. At least 11 shelter dogs were adopted today at this event! We are so happy that these 11 doggies found their forever homes! Thanks to Sam's Furniture and the FPS volunteers for making this a reality! September-11 2010 Orschelns to Throw Halloween Adoption Party! Gayle at Orschelns is going to throw For Pets' Sake a Halloween Party on Saturday, October 30 from 11:00 AM -3:00 PM. Orschelns will be serving Trick-or-Treat hot dogs and drinks for everyone that wants to come by. Adoptable pets will be there with bells on ... literally ... they will be in their finest Halloween costumes. Come on by and pick out your new family member today! September-1 2010 FPS Adoptable Dogs Showcased With Arkansas Naturals FPS will be showcasing its adoptable dogs at the Northwest Arkansas Naturals home games. July-23 2010 FPS to Hold Adoption Day in Springdale FPS will bring their adoptable pets to Orshelins in Springdale at 10 AM on August 7th, 2010. Come on out and see if one of our adoptable pets will be the perfect fit for your family! July-12 2010 FPS to Hold Adoption Day in Fayetteville FPS will hold an adoption day at the Fayetteville, AR Sam's Club in conjunction with the Springdale Animal Shelter on July 24th, 2010. The address is 3081 N. Highway 112. Come on out and see all of our adoptable pets! April-30 2010 University of Arkansas Students Support FPS FPS has been contacted by two U of A students for media Programs. The students, working independently from each other, will prepare multi-media programs of a few FPS officers and volunteers. This is an assignment associated with a media class on campus. Each media program will last just 2-4 minutes. One, by Danny Meyer, will focus on the BF program and the other, by Luke Gramlic, will cover an overview of the whole organization. Here is a link to one of the projects and a link to YouTube for the other: April-30 2010 FPS to Hold Summer Microchip Clinic The City of Springdale recently passed an ordinance that requires all Springdale pet owners to microchip all cats and dogs by May 13th, 2010. Microchip clinics will be held at the Springdale Shelter by the shelter and are for residents of Springdale. The registration is included and the price is $20. This is part of a bigger plan to reduce the number of dogs in the shelter and, thereby, reduce the number of dogs euthanized. Come on out to the Springdale Shelter on May 1st from 1 PM to 3 PM and on May 5th from 11 AM to 1 PM to get your pets microchipped. See the Springdale Animal Services website for more information
