March-31 2012 Doggie Easter Parade Scheduled for March 31The 2nd annual Doggie Easter Parade is scheduled for March 31 from 1 PM - 2 PM at the Springdale Rodeo Grounds with a rain date of April 7th. $10 registration fee per dog includes a costume contest with cast prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, a free t-shirt, buy one get one free hot dogs. Special guests include the Canine Cop, Top Dog Boarding, the Springdale Fire Department?s own Sparky, and The Naturals dog Spike. Many dogs will be on-site and available for adoption. All proceeds will benefit For Pets' Sake, an animal welfare organization helping pets and their people. Petfinder.com has partnered with Tractor Supply Company to help locate adoption groups for each store nationwide. For Pets' Sake will participate and bring all of our adoptable pets. Come see us!Furry Easter Parade Huge Success!We had our Doggie Easter Parade after the annual Rodeo Easter Egg Hunt. We had prepared for 1000 hot dogs and served 850 and took 150 to the homeless shelter. We had the dogs parade around in a circle to the "Easter Parade" which had been revised to be the "doggie parade" and was sung by Joyce Pruett, one of our members. We had 15 dogs available for adoption and a huge raffle with lots of prizes. Several attendees have now become FPS volunteers! We hope to make this an annual affair and grow it each year.April-11 2011 FPS Receives $500 GrantWe have received a $500.00 grant from Mental Health America of Northwest Arkansas for the FPS Pets for Vets Program. Veterans contact Sheri Kay and then they find a dog at the shelter that will be a good companion dog for the person. FPS takes care of the fees for spay/neuter and vaccinations and the pet is delivered to the veteran at no cost to them. March-05 2011 FPS Receives DonationNew adoptive pet owner Janine Fleck send a thank you note to past President Laurie Beckman with a $25 donation to support FPS. The thank you note read: "Laurie, Thank you for helping with my dog search, listening, and helping me to understand how to choose a rescue dog. Most people would not have even bothered to call back. Thanks again. It is obvious you want what is best for everyone. Janine Fleck" Thank you Janine for saving a homeless pet!November-6 2010 Sam's Furniture/FPS Adoption Day a HUGE SuccessFPS took 17 Springdale Shelter Dogs to an Adoption Day at Sam's Furniture. FPS paid for all spay/neuter fees and Sam's Furniture paid the $40 adoption fee for all shelter dogs that got adopted today. At least 11 shelter dogs were adopted today at this event! We are so happy that these 11 doggies found their forever homes! Thanks to Sam's Furniture and the FPS volunteers for making this a reality!September-11 2010 Orschelns to Throw Halloween Adoption Party!Gayle at Orschelns is going to throw For Pets' Sake a Halloween Party on Saturday, October 30 from 11:00 AM -3:00 PM. Come on out and see all of our adoptable pets!April-30 2010 University of Arkansas Students Support FPSFPS has been contacted by two U of A students for media Programs. The students, working independently from each other, will prepare multi-media programs of a few FPS officers and volunteers. This is an assignment associated with a media class on campus. Each media program will last just 2-4 minutes. One, by Danny Meyer, will focus on the BF program and the other, by Luke Gramlic, will cover an overview of the whole organization. Here is a link to one of the projects and a link to YouTube for the other:April-30 2010 FPS to Hold Summer Microchip ClinicThe City of Springdale recently passed an ordinance that requires all Springdale pet owners to microchip all cats and dogs by May 13th, 2010. Microchip clinics will be held at the Springdale Shelter by the shelter and are for residents of Springdale. The registration is included and the price is $20. This is part of a bigger plan to reduce the number of dogs in the shelter and, thereby, reduce the number of dogs euthanized. Come on out to the Springdale Shelter on May 1st from 1 PM to 3 PM and on May 5th from 11 AM to 1 PM to get your pets microchipped. See the Springdale Animal Services website for more information |
